Taapsee Pannu’s father gives her tips for role as hockey player

Taapsee Pannu has started shooting for her next ‘Mulk’ with Anubhav Sinha and she has also started prepping for her role in Shaad Ali’s next as a hockey player, in which she would be sharing the screen space with Diljit Dosanjh.

In the film, Pannu essays the role of an Olympian hockey player and for which she has had to begin intense hockey practice sessions to learn the nuances of the sport. She herself has a keen affinity for sports and fitness in general and has been enjoying her time on the practice ground to learn about the sport. Interestingly the actress’s father too played hockey when he was younger and she had only seen pictures of him when she was younger growing up in Delhi. She is using that as an inspiration for herself and finds it emotional that 20 years later she herself would be learning the sport, something which has a very special personal meaning for her.

The film is believed to be based on the story of Sandeep Singh, the coveted hockey player of India and the ex-captain.

When asked, Pannu revealed, “I have seen pictures of my father who played hockey representing Delhi University. Never thought at that point I will ever hold a hockey stick. I have always loved sports in general but never tried hockey. It’s so coincidental that eventually when I got to play a sportsperson on screen I got to play a hockey player. I am having a great time learning the sport and I’m sure this will be one film my dad will be very keen to watch.”
