The very talented ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ (2016) actress, Swara Bhaskar��says Bollywood actors are judged on their beauty.
Bhaskar took to Twitter recently for��a question & answer session with her��fans and followers. Answering one such fan on being asked about the lesson that the Hindi film industry has taught her; the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ (2011) actress tweeted, “That you are judged on your looks. There’s no avoiding it so might as well play the game. Taught me the meaning of and how to follow the adage ��when in Rome, do as the Romans do�۪.”
The actress disclosed that there is a constant pressure to look good in her profession, and that she had been rejected by many filmmakers in the past for not being ‘heroine material’ or beautiful enough. But the 28-year old actress was determined to look beyond that and focus on doing good work.
“Getting judged for looks is an occupational hazard. We are continuously in front of camera. I think you need to love yourself and be happy,� she added.
When asked by another fan, if elements of different forms of theatre have been dominated��by Bollywood�۪s glamour; Bhaskar replied,�ʉ��But the fact is theatre is really the actor�۪s medium. And will always remain. Cinema is director�۪s medium,�
