Swara Bhaskar: “I am a very greedy actress”

Swara Bhaskar

After havingbeen part of two 100 crore grossing films, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ last year, Swara Bhaskar has an interesting line up of films releasing in 2016.

The versatile actor, who admits that she is very particular about the roles she decides to do, told Mumbai Mirror, “I am not someone who picks up roles that I don’t want to do. I stand by all my work. I am a very greedy actor. I don’t like to give up roles where I have something to do… If I am scared about how I would essay a role, then that is something that I will take up for sure.”

Bhaskar feels she has been very lucky as far as her roles are concerned, be it commercial or art-house cinema, she added, “It’s all about the kind of roles you are getting. Luckily for me, the roles which I have got in my commercial films have also been meaty and have given me a chance to perform. People remember me for my characters…It’s not possible for any actor, who is not a star kid and has no major backing, to not do commercial films. You have no choice, you have to be a part of mainstream films to survive… This balance is required.”

The talented actress will soon be seen portraying a challenging character in Avinash Das’ ‘Anarkali Aarawali’ wherein she plays the title role of Anarkali, a local singer of live performances of lewd and double meaning songs. She will also be seen in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ in which she plays the role of a determined mother of a stubborn teenager.
