Sussanne Khan to take legal action for defamation

Sussanne Khan is set to take legal action for defamation after a fraud complaint was registered against her by Emgee Enterprises for Rs. 1.87 crore.

A statement released by her team was published in Times Of India:

“Sussanne Khan and The Charcoal Project were hired in the year 2013 to envision a signature project in Goa by Emgee Group. Her role was that of Creative Director, who would put together all aspects of design to make the project come alive.

As Creative Director, Sussanne Khan, in a completely transparent manner hired further talent for architecture. From the very inception, Sussanne Khan in clear terms had made it known that she will be using a leading architect who would work closely with her to design the project. At no point did Sussanne Khan suggest that she herself is an architect. Thus, Rooshad Shroff was engaged formally as the architect of the project.

All legal agreements between Mr. Mudhit Gupta and Rooshad Shroff and Sussanne Khan and Mr. Rooshad Shroff clearly indicate that the Emgee group was fully aware of this fact.

All marketing collaterals including the brochure and invitation cards show Rooshad Shroff as the architect of the project. This is stated in black and white and clearly illustrates the reality and the facts of the situation. These collaterals and brochures were produced for the Emgee Group and Mr. Gupta, thus how could they be unaware of the facts?

In time, Mr. Mudhit Gupta had a difference of opinion with Mr. Rooshad Shroff and thus Sussanne Khan hired a second architect, Mr. Burgees Italia.

The Emgee group and Mr. Mudhit Gupta have now claimed that Sussanne Khan misrepresented herself as an architect. The supporting documents attached with this press note illustrate these accusations to be untrue and baseless.

Sussanne Khan has initiated a civil suit against the Emgee group and Mr. Mudhit Gupta in the year 2015. This latest action by the Emgee Group is a blatant attempt to twist facts and put pressure on Sussanne Khan.”

Khan told the publication, “The blame is completely false. They are trying to attack me and pressurise me just because I had initiated a case against them in 2015 with regards to not paying me my dues and using my designs for the project. It’s a violation of copyright, as they cannot go ahead and use my designs without my consent.”
