Sushant Singh Rajput drops his surname on Twitter

It has emerged that Sushant Singh Rajput has dropped his surname from his Twitter handle following the recent attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Reported in the Hindustan Times, Singh Rajput made the decision in protest to the activists of the Rajput Organisation, Shree Rajput Kerni Sena who attacked the crew of ‘Padmavati’ and Bhansali as well as vandalising the set.

Singh Rajput shared his reason for his decision on Twitter explaining, “I did it to show that the unfortunate action is not what everyone with that surname endorses. They do not represent the entire Rajputs. There are ways to express your ideas, but violence is never an answer, and that too just on a mere speculation.”

There was also an united front on Twitter from across the film fraternity who all condemned the attack on Bhansali.

The Kerni Sena activists made the attack as they believe the historical facts will be distorted. The film is based on the story of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi ruler, who fell in love with Rajput queen Padmavati. For the time being shooting of the film has been postponed.
