Sushant Singh Rajput as dacoit in Abhishek Chaubey’s next

Sushant Singh Rajput has reportedly been signed up for Abhishek Chaubey’s next film, apparently titled ‘Chambal Ka Daku’.  The film revolves around dacoits in the Chambal region.

Rajput will be playing a dacoit in the film which will predominantly be set in the Chambal states.  However, co-writer Sudip Sharma, who visited and met some dacoits, has said the story will not be focussed on the horror stories surrounding dacoits.  “Some of them have more than 80 murder charges on them. Everyone has heard horror stories about the dacoits of Chambal but I’ve realised the reality is quite different from what Hindi films portray. We aim to capture that reality,” he said as reported in Times of India.

The film will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala and is expected to start shooting by year end with filming to be finished by February 2018.  The as-yet untitled film will mark Chaubey’s follow-up to the hugely controversial but critically acclaimed film ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016).
