Surveen Chawla on being labelled post ‘Hate Story 2’
Surveen Chawla took the plunge from the small screen to cinema and it seems it didn۪t take long for her to get typecast. After Hate Story 2۪ (2014), Chawla has said she was only offered a certain kind of role and that۪s why she didn۪t sign a film.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Chawla divulged, People label you, and they don۪t see what more you are capable of. Film-makers should see if actors fit their characters. Post Hate Story 2, everyone felt that since I have done a sensual role, they can give me similar ones. But, when people offer me a bold۪ role, it flabbergasts me. Why don۪t the makers look beyond, and see what the actor is capable of doing? After Hate Story 2, I was bombarded with bold and sexy۪ roles. It got tiring, and that۪s why I didn۪t sign any Hindi movies. I don۪t want to do films for the sake of it. I۪d rather wait.
She also spoke a bit about her journey, It۪s sad that there is a huge gap between film and TV actors. You are looked down upon and called a TV actor۪. People suggested that I shouldn۪t mention such and such show [to filmmakers], but I didn۪t want to hide my work.
