Surveen Chawla: “Being married has nothing to do with my profession”

After recently revealing her two-year marriage on social media, Surveen Chawla spoke out on why she chose to keep it a secret.

At the trailer launch of her web series ‘Haq Se’, she said, “Well, I wanted to break the myth and I wanted to take time to evolve out of my own myths. Being a part of this industry, we are conditioned in a certain way. Now you guys tell me, in two years when you people have seen me, have you find any difference? That’s just proof that it really doesn’t matter. I strongly believe that being married has nothing to do with my profession. It does not make me less beautiful, less charming or sexy. Being married does not make me a less artiste or a professional. I am an entertainer; I will entertain you, irrespective of my marital status. I will do my best at my job and that’s what should matter to everybody,” NDTV reported.

Chawla and her husband Akshay Thakker were planning on making the announcement after their Indian wedding, which was scheduled for December, 2017. The wedding had to be postponed to 2018 due to a loss in the family.

AltBalaji’s web series ‘Haq Se’, starring Rajeev Khandelwal opposite Chawla, along with Simone Singh, Parul Gulati, Aanchal Sharma, Rukhsar, Nikkesha Rangwala, Pavail Gulati and Karanvir Sharma is releasing in February, 2018.
