‘Tumhari Sulu’, Vidya Balan’s next, will be the directorial debut of Suresh Triveni. He said he always wanted to work with Balan and he is directing the film because of her.

Talking to Pune Mirror, Triveni divulged, “There were a couple of hitand- miss opportunities before this. Last year, we got talking and one of the two ideas I had materialised into Tumhari Sulu”.

Triveni went on to say how perfect the role is for Balan, “I wrote the film a year after I met her. Middle- class housewives have been portrayed as hassled and troubled in Hindi films but I’m a huge Hrishkesh Mukherjee fan and he showed that even middle-class families can be happy”.

Balan has been working with a diction coach to get her pronunciation right for the character. Triveni explains, “It’s not tapori Hindi, it’s more the kind of conversations we overhear in the ladies compartment of local trains. Vidya is a Mumbai girl who grew up in Chembur but we wanted to give her speech a new flow”.

‘Tumhari Sulu’ is a T-Series-Ellipsis Entertainment production.
