Supreme Court refuses stay on ‘Udta Punjab’ release
The Supreme Court has refused to stay release of ‘Udta Punjab’ after a complaint was file against the film by a Punjab NGO.
A Jalandhar NGO alleged the film depicts Punjab in a bad light with references to drug abuse in the state. The Supreme Court has directed the NGO to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the matter.
On Monday, Bombay High Court overruled the CBFC۪s order of 89 cuts in the film. Udta Punjab۪ was cleared with one cut and a disclaimer.
