Supreme Court orders CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death
The Supreme Court has given the go ahead to Bihar Police for a CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death investigation.
Justice Hrishikesh Roy pronounced the verdict on a petition filed by Rajput’s friend and actor, Rhea Chakraborty. She had sought to transfer the FIR lodged by Rajput’s father in Patna to Mumbai. Her plea has been dismissed by the court.
The Supreme Court has now asked Mumbai Police to transfer all evidence collected so far to the CBI.
“FIR registered in Patna was lawful. The state of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order,” the Supreme Court said.
The Bihar Police had filed an FIR against Rhea and five others under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide), Sec 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), Sec 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), Sec 380 (Theft in dwelling house), Sec 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), and Sec 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
