Supreme Court dismisses petition to ban Jauhar scene from ‘Padmaavat’

The Supreme Court has rejected a petition to delete a Jauhar scene from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’.

The Asian Age reports that the plea was filed by Swami Agnivesh. He said that the scene was a promotion of the ‘Sati’ tradition. The film had come under fire prior to its release after members of the Rajput factions accused the director for distorting history.

‘Padmaavat’ has since become available on Amaazon, ahead of its television premiere on Colors this summer.
