Sunrise Radio Yorkshire CEO Usha Parmar wins Lifetime Achievement award
Usha Parmar, Chief Executive of Sunrise Radio (Yorkshire), has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement award at the Yorkshire Business Power Awards, held at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford on 13th July.
The annual ceremony, organised by the Asian Express newspaper, recognises and celebrates the contributions of women from a wide range of industries. Parmar was honoured for her longstanding impact in broadcasting and her role in advancing representation, innovation, and community engagement within the Asian media sector.
Before entering the media industry, Parmar worked as a teacher and then as a project manager. She went on to lead Sunrise Radio, transforming it into a respected platform for the Asian community. Under her leadership, the station expanded its programming and broadcast footprint, reaching audiences across Calderdale, Keighley, East Lancashire, Milton Keynes, and beyond through FM and DAB.
In addition to her work in media, Parmar has launched training and digital initiatives and has consistently supported causes related to women’s empowerment, youth development, and social advocacy.
Sunrise Radio, founded in 1989 and based in Bradford, continues to deliver music, news, information, and entertainment tailored to the Asian community across the UK.
