Sunrise Radio Group pledges for donations

Cash-strapped Sunrise Radio has put a new system in place in an effort to raise money and keep it afloat.

According to a news piece on the station’s morning network bulletin, Sunrise Radio has started up a new scheme called ‘Listener Contributions’. The piece did not elaborate too much on the move but just prompted listeners to donate money. The station used the BBC as an example saying that if it can be funded by a licence fee then why could a commercial radio like Sunrise Radio cannot.

Recently, Sunrise Radio, Kismat Radio and Punjabi Radio ceased broadcasting on digital television to save costs, furthermore did not renew its contract on digital radio in the West Midlands.
