Sunrise acquires fifth London radio station

London’s number one Asian radio station Sunrise Radio
has exclusively confirmed to Biz Asia today that it has
poached its fifth London radio station. The hit music
station has been on a roll to grab niche London stations
since last year. The deal between Sunrise Radio and
Star FM was sealed in the wee hours of last night.

Sunrise Radio officially announced the news on its
broadcast this morning. The latest acquisition is
London’s Star 106.6 FM. Star FM is already popular with
its daily Asian output, which goes out in the
evenings. It was only last month Sunrise Radio bagged
East London’s Soul City.

Star FM joins Sunrise Radio’s other stations including
Soul City, Mean Country (rebranded to Easy Radio
London), Time and Fusion FM. Sunrise Radio has also
spoken out about its TV plans saying that the launch has
been put back due to the recent radio acquisitions.

Sunrise TV now looks at launching at the end of this
year or latest spring of 2005.
