Popular presenting duo, Sunny & Shay will be leaving BBC Radio WM this month, its been confirmed.

The real-life couple, who started on BBC Radio WM seven years ago, will be leaving their weekday show on Wednesday 29th December 2021. They will continue presenting their weekend show on BBC Radio London.

In a post shared on social media, Sunny & Shay said:

After 7 years working at BBC Radio WM and most recently right across the Midlands we are leaving the station.

We are so very proud of all that we have achieved whilst presenting on the largest BBC local radio station outside of London for the past 7 years.

Making history when we joined BBC Radio WM as the first high profile South Asians to present daytime in the 50 year history of the station. We always used our shows to raise a light to under-represented voices and communities.

We leave as the Best Radio Presenters at the New York Radio Awards, Best Media Award at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards and Best Radio Show at the Birmingham Music Awards and Award Finalists for Best Presenters and Best Radio Show at the Asian Media Awards.

These awards are testament to you, our loyal listeners. You really are some of the best in the country and it’s been our honour to broadcast to you daily and we want thank you for letting us into your lives and homes.

We have so much to celebrate during our time in the Midlands from announcing the birth of our baby to all the fantastic outside broadcasts that we have done all being mainstream and for everyone.
We truly will miss the Midlands but of course our work continues within the BBC as you’ll still be able to hear us on our shows on BBC Radio London.

Our last show will be on 29th December and we look forward to our next adventure within the BBC in 2022

Sunny & Shay
