Sunny Leone teams up with NGO to fight cyber harassment

With the growth of social media and online use, cyber bullying has grown to enormous levels. From the small time social media user to the biggest of celebrities, hurtful comments and ‘trolling’ are at an all time high. Sunny Leone, who has been harassed online herself, has teamed up with the NGO-Akancha Against Harassment to fight cyber bullying and online abuse.

Mid-Day reports Leone saying, “Someone threatened me, telling me he’d come to my house to cause harm. Daniel (Sunny’s husband) was not in the country and I was frightened, because I was living alone. I would hear noises outside my house and would walk towards the door with a knife in my hand.” She also says that there was an Twitter user that also appeared outside her home, saying, “He started banging on my door. His Twitter followers bullied me, made me fear that a mob would turn up and break into my house. Young girls and boys go through depression because they are bulled. Many even end up committing suicide. I don’t know if this will end, but, we can create awareness about it. Thankfully, people have been supportive towards me, and, I am strong, but not everyone can say that. We need to help them.”
