The weekend Asian shows that are broadcast up and down the country on local BBC radio stations will be streamlined with consistency on the network but still individually targeting their specific areas.

The change, which took place earlier this month has resulted a schedule amongst the following Asian shows Desi Nation, Eastern Air, Dhamaka, Midlands Masala, Connections, Indus, plus shows fronted by Satvinder Rana, Ajmal Hussain, Jona Kotnis, Kamlesh Purohit, Manny Masih and Sunny and Shay.

Previously the shows were broadcast on either Saturday or Sunday nights at 20:00. However, the BBC has decided to schedule the two-hour Asian output on Sunday evenings at 18:00 across the BBC local radio network.

David Holdsworth, Controller, English Regions, said, “These schedule changes reflect the ambition of BBC Local Radio to serve communities with the best local journalism, and reflecting the lives and interests of our listeners.”

All shows are available to listen back on the Asian output’s Desi Download website here.
