BizAsia reported not so long ago that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was looking to remake the cult classic ‘Khalnayak’ (1993). However, filmmaker Subhash Ghai has since denied that he has sold the rights of the film.

Bollywood Hungama report Ghai stating, “I respect Sanjay Leela Bhansali as a unique filmmaker who has also proved himself as an independent producer withRowdy RathoreandMary Kom. But I have not made up my mind about selling the remake rights ofKhalnayak. Let’s wait and see. Having said that, I must admit I feel honoured when my past movies are being considered by my filmmaker-friends for remakes, as they are still seen to be contemporary in content and characterisation”.

“My door is open for all serious-minded filmmakers. And if destiny wills it, more of my films would be remade,” he continued.

A couple of Ghai’s films are already in the process of being remade.
