The much anticipated UK launch of Shah Rukh Khan’s new gameshow for STAR Plus ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ will be taking place in mid-June, BizAsia.co.uk can reveal.

ZEE TV is set to launch a new musical weekend show, which will be the first to combine singing and dancing talents from various TV shows.

The show is an Indian version of the hit American TV series ‘Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?’. ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ will dole out Rs 50 million as prize money for the winner of the Hindi show.

Unfortunately for the channel, ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ has had a severe beating in the ratings from the ongoing Indian Premier League. There have also been reports about sponsors of the show being unhappy with the way the show has shaped out.

Viewers in the UK have been querying about the launch here ever since the show went live in India but due to “branding issues” ‘Paanchvi’ was delayed. In the UK, channels are forbidden by Ofcom to blatantly advertise or endorse a product during a programme – unless clearly specified. In India, shows heavily feature brand promotions, which is why certain shows get delayed because edits have to be carried out before telecasting here.

‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain’ starts on Friday 13th June (Friday to Sunday) at 21:00 on STAR Plus UK.
