Star TV UK to air IPL 2018 player auction

Star TV has confirmed that it will broadcast the IPL 2018 players auction live in the UK for the first time, this weekend.

Star TV, which acquired the world broadcast and digital rights to the lucrative cricket tournament, is yet to announce its UK television partner for the series in May. It is not yet known if Star TV will retain the rights for the UK territory or sell them to Sky, Eurosport or ITV.

The IPL 2018 players auction will broadcast live from Bangalore on both Saturday and Sunday (27th & 28th January) with 578 players, including 360 Indians, set to get the cash registers ringing in huge amounts. A maximum of 182 players can be chosen at the auction.

Star TV UK has cleared its weekend Star Gold schedule to accommodate this last minute change. This will no doubt also give Star TV UK an inkling the response it will generate from the much awaited series.

IPL 2018 player auction will be shown live on Star Gold UK this weekend from 03:30 on both days.

IPL 2018 gets underway from 7th April 2018.
