Star TV, Sony, Colors, ZEE & B4U scrap ads on Monday as a sign of respect for Queen

Five major Asian TV networks have confirmed that they will not broadcast any commercials on Monday 19th September, as a sign of a respect on the day of the Queen’s funeral.

Following in the footsteps of radio stations Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold, which announced similar plans on Tuesday, Utsav Plus, Utsav Bharat, Utsav Gold (Star TV), ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema (ZEE Network), Sony TV, Sony MAX, Sony MAX 2, Sony SAB TV (Sony Pictures Networks), Colors, Colors Rishtey, Colors Cineplex, Colors Gujarati (Viacom18) and B4U Movies and B4U Music (B4U Network), will not adverts or sponsorship properties on Monday.

This is the first time in history that all five Asian TV networks have collectively announced a blanket decision in the UK. The broadcasters are expected to run fillers in between shows to fill for any excess slots left vacant by non-commercials. Typically, only 22 minutes of a 30-minute slot is required, the remainder which is used for adverts and channel promos.

Meanwhile, Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold announced on Tuesday that it will be suspending all commercial properties from its output between 06:00 and 19:00 on Monday 19th September.
