After signing an exclusive deal with Salman Khan, Star TV India has inked a deal with Ajay Devgn for a slew of his films to broadcast exclusively on the network.

The Rs 400 crore deal consists of all Devgn’s upcoming releases until 2017. The films include Sajid Khan’s ‘Himmatwala’, which studio Disney UTV releases at the end of the month. The next is Prakash Jha’s ‘Satyagraha’, followed by an action film with Prabhudeva and a sequel to ‘Singham’ with Reliance Entertainment. The broadcaster already holds the rights to 18 of his previous films including ‘Singham’, ‘Golmaal’, ‘Zameen’ and ‘Gangajal’.

Talking to Economic Times, Sanjay Gupta, chief operating officer of Star India said the deal has strategic value for the network. He added that the small screen is the new cinema hall where a premiere of a big film can attract 20-30 crore viewers, ten times that in theatres.

The last three premieres on Star Gold starring Devgn averaged 6.2 TRPs.
