Star Plus UK to air first Turkish fiction ‘Winter Sun’ this month

Star Plus UK will be broadcasting its first Turkish show ‘Winter Sun’, dubbed in Hindi.

The show, will replace ‘Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai’ in the 21:30 slot. This is the third time the comedy show has been shunted to a late night slot due to poor ratings.

Produced by Endemol Shine Turkey, the show originally known as ‘Kis Günesi’, stars Sükrü Özyildiz, Asli Enver, Basak Parlak.

“This type of deal reflects a general trend in international television audiences, that the key to a successful series is a great story – regardless of the language or country of origin,” says Nixon Yau Lim, Head of Asia Pacific at international distributor Eccho Rights.

“Winter Sun has already been well received around the world airing on channels in nations as diverse as Indonesia, Albania, Angola, and across MENA, as well as worldwide on Netflix.”

‘Winter Sun’ is the story of Efe, a man forced to adopt his long-lost twin brother’s identity when the criminal gang that changed his life as a child, once more take everything away from him when he returns as an adult.

‘Winter Sun’ will air weeknights from Monday 25th June at 21:30.
