Future in doubt for 'SaraswatiChandra'

The future of Star Plus’ big ticket show ‘SaraswatiChandra’ produced by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, could be in doubt.

The show, which has been struggling in the ratings in India, is being tweaked in an effort to spruce up ratings. Not only that, its no secret that lead actress Jennifer Winget who plays Kumud is hesitant in doing any high-end romantic scenes with Saras, played by Gautam Rode. Winget has previously spoken out about the fact her husband Karan Singh Grover is uncomfortable with romancing other actors.

New characters will be introduced into the mix to see what works. Its already been confirmed that actress Vahbbiz Dorabjee will be joining the cast in the coming days.

BizAsia contacted Rode about the future of the show, he said, “No comments on this situation, will connect soon.”

The channel is toying with many ideas to jazz up the slots, which are not faring well. ‘Mahabharat’ launches next month, in place of ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behhna Hai’ – with other slots also being carefully monitored.
