The international beam of Star Plus including UK and USA was hit by a major technical glitch, which resulted in the channel going off-air for over an hour.
Star Plus was broadcasting a frozen still of an advert of ‘Money2India’ from just before 19:00 up until 20:05. The still was of the advert, which was being shown before it fell off-air.
Viewers from UK, USA and Bangladesh all experienced the loss of service. In the UK, the channel returned with its scheduled programming ‘Kaali’ and resumed as normal.
A reason behind the fault is unknown. However, it is the first time in the history of the channel that it was taken off-air for such a long time – leading to questions what caused the major fault.
The other Star TV channels in the UK were unaffected.
