STAR Plus fights back with flying Colors

All Hindi entertainment channels have sprung back to life after the controversial India TV strike. In the week of new shows, STAR Plus has fought back its rivals by coming up trumps with huge numbers.

According to TAM data, C&S, 4+, HSM for week ending Saturday 6th December, STAR Plus leads the pack with 263 GRPs (gross rating points). This compares to 98 GRPs in the previous week (ended 29th November).

Its closest rival Colors managed to secure the second position. It scored 213 GRPs, after taking the top spot with 124 GRPs (for week ended 29th November) during the spell when there was no new content.

ZEE TV stood firm in the third position with 189 GRPs (last week 102 GRPs), followed by Sony Entertainment Television Asia with 82 GRPs (earlier 67 GRPs).

Other contenders saw STAR One with 73 GRPs at the fifth place while NDTV Imagine (62 GRPs) is next, followed by Sahara One (46 GRPs) and SAB (45 GRPs). 9X was the only Hindi entertainment channel not to add any fresh content – its audience hovered around 44 GRPs.

STAR Plus’ ‘Bidaai’ is the most watched show pocketing 7.97 TVR followed by Colors’ ‘Balika Vadhu’ at 7.18. ‘Aap Ki Kachehri’ presented by Kiran Bedi and the replacement of ‘Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ pocketed 3.98 TVR.
