Star Plus’ ‘Anupamaa’ sets destroyed in huge fire

A major fire broke out on the set of Star Plus’ flagship drama ‘Anupamaa’ early this morning, prompting alarm across the television industry.

According to reports, the blaze started at approximately 05:00, just two hours before filming was due to commence at 07:00. Despite the scale of the fire, there were no injuries or casualties reported.

The incident was confirmed by the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) via social media. Its president, Suresh Gupta, spoke to SCREEN, alleging negligence on the part of the show’s producer, Rajan Shahi.

Gupta stated, “A massive fire broke out on the ‘Anupamaa’ set in Film City this morning. The fire brigade arrived nearly an hour after the blaze began. The entire set was constructed from wood, as were many of the surrounding structures. This happened because the production team failed to comply with fire safety norms in an effort to cut costs.”

He went on to add, “Every year, the safety of thousands of workers is compromised. These individuals often risk their lives because work isn’t guaranteed daily. Neither the Managing Director of Film City nor other officials regularly inspect fire safety protocols. As President of AICWA, I urge the Maharashtra Chief Minister to launch a full investigation and confirm that no lives were lost, as such matters are often covered up.”

Producer Rajan Shahi has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
