As it’s official broadcast partner, Star Plus has today revealed it’s TV schedule for the upcoming International Indian Film Acadmey Awards (IIFA).
The much anticipated awards take place this year in Canada, for the first time. The celebrations kick off this weekend between 23rd and 25th June, however viewers will have to wait got a month to see them on television.
The Pre-Event build-up special show will air on Sunday 17th July, followed by the Main Event and Red Carpet telecast on Sunday 24th July at 19:00 on Star Plus.
Bollywood superstae Shah Rukh Khan will be the headline act. The star is expected to put in a performance that will enthrall the Bollywood-hungry audience.
Said Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft International Entertainment, organiser of the IIFA, ���Shah Rukh Khan will be our finale performer for this year. He is returning to perform for us after seven years and we are very excited.”
The actor earlier attended two editions of the IIFA Weekend, the first in Singapore in 2004 and later at Amsterdam in 2005. Khan has also been nominated in the best actor category for his performance in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’.
“He is a phenomenal performer and a huge star. He hasn’t been to Canada in a long time… so the kind of expectations that fans and people have of him is quite something,” Joseph added.
Others who will perform at the awards include Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan and the Deols, veteran Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby.
Salman Khan is also expected to be present at the three-day IIFA Weekend, as his debut co-production, ‘Chillar Party’ to kick off the film festival.
