Star One to morph into Star Desh in January?

Star Network is planning to rebrand its troubled channel, Star One into Star Desh at the end of December or beginning of January 2012, according to reports.

TellyBuzz reports that new producers have got a a large time span and an opportunity to make their new projects ready for the channel. The production houses are waiting to hear from the channel to start with their shootings. Few more production houses are coming up with new series for the same channel.

Earlier, Star One was to be revamped and become Star Desh in September and then reports suggested the change was set to take place near Diwali but now has been delayed until the end of this year. Star TV officials are yet to confirm the developments.

Star One has been underperforming of late and a complete new strategy is being put into place to reposition and rebrand the channel. Star Desh will continue to target a younger audience but with a focus mainly at small town audiences in India.

Recently shows like ‘Rang Badalti Odhani’, Yeh Ishq Haaye’ and ‘Dhoond Legi Manzil Humein’ have ended, with the likes of ‘Geet Hui Sabse Parayi’ and ‘Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani’ still undecided on whether they will be axed or changed to fit in with Star Desh’s policy.
