Star News to be rebranded to ABP News
After eight years, Star TV India and the Ananda Bazaar Patrika (ABP) Group have parted ways resulting in the rebranding of Star News to ABP News.
As per reports earlier, it was the split between the two companies was imminent. Today, Media Content and Communication (MCCS) has announced that Hindi news channel, Star News will be rebranded to ABP News. Meanwhile Bengali news channel, Star Ananda will become ABP Ananda and Marathi news channel, Star Majha will be known as ABP Majha.
A company release said, “Both the principle shareholders have agreed to discontinue the Star brand affiliation with the MCCS. Going forward Star wishes to focus on building their brand on their core business that is general entertainment.”
Star TV will continue to focus on its core business of general entertainment. The change will be reflected on UK, USA and Canada screens soon. BizAsia will announce more details as they become available.
