Star Network grabs World Food Awards

Star Network has been announced as the new partner for the World Food Awards, days after Sony Entertainment Television Asia terminated its deal with the event.

The World Food Awards, now in their third year, have firmly established themselves as a focal point of the UK world food calendar, attracting industry leaders and showcasing the very best the sector has to offer.

Through this exciting partnership with the Star Network, the World Food Awards 2011 will be broadcast globally to a vast audience. The event will again feature a glittering line-up, including performances from leading artists and a host of celebrities, sports personalities and acclaimed chefs to present the awards.

Yeshpal Sharma, Vice President for Star UK & Europe said, “Our association with the prestigious World Food Awards 2011 is another major coup for the Star network. Star is committed in taking a pro-active approach towards events for the Asian community in the UK.We look forward to a continued association with this event and making it much bigger and more universal in its appeal.”

Harry Dulai, Managing Director of world food specialists Surya Foods, said, “This event proved an instant success with our industry, quickly attracting the who۪s who of the world food sector – a clear sign to me that an event to honour the achievements of this thriving sector was long over-do. We have backed it and believed in it from the start and to see it presented last year by comedy legend Lenny Henry with brands like Zuma and Pataks walking away with gongs was a truly proud moment. We are delighted to be working with Star TV on our third annual awards ceremony.”

This is the second event that Star Network has replaced Sony Entertainment Television Asia in as partners. Earlier this year, Star Network announced it was partnering up with the Leicester Belgrave Mela. These changes have taken place under Rajan Singh’s management who left Sony Entertainment Television Asia and joined Star Network as Executive Vice President of International Busines, last year.

The World Food Awards take place in October.
