STAR launch slew of new shows this week

In a bid to further strengthen its position in the cluttered UK market of Asian channels, STAR Plus will be launching a slew of new shows this week.

STAR Plus has been keeping low key for the past few weeks but things are set to change for the better with the introduction of six new shows and what corkers they are too! First on the list is the much hyped Koffee With Karan, which has already received immense coverage in the UK Asian newspapers. Koffee With Karan makes it debut on the channel this coming Sunday (13th February) at 21:00. The first pair of Bollywood stars to rub shoulders with the top director Karan Johar are Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Both of who touched stardom after the success of 1995’s hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Next on the list is Kkavyanjali, a runaway success, which recorded the highest ever TV ratings for a brand new soap in India on its launch a month ago. The drama also sees the debut of Bollywood actress Amrita Singh. Kkavyanjali is a story of two lovers who separate after a tragic incident. It makes its debut on STAR Plus on Monday 14th February at 22:30.

A new light drama in the style of Hello Dollie will also be launched on Monday 14th February at 19:00. Dollie Suri, is a clumsy, plain Jane, teenager. With frumpy hair she stumbles over words, falls over stones and bumps into lampposts and people. One day Dollie discovers that he late father was actually a king, Maharaja Jaikishen. Find out what happens to Dollie in this amazing tale of a princess.

After a dose of daily soaps, comes the relief of a new weekly soap titled Jeet. Another light humour series based in a college, which will be a hit amongst the younger audience. Starts on Friday 18th February at 22:00.

Two new spine-chilling series will be marking their launch on STAR Plus next weekend. Kalcchakra, ?the wheels of time? takes you on a journey where evil takes over the Thakur family. The family has been cursed by the evil witch Kaalinga after which twins are born into the family. One twin is the child of the devil himself. Kalcchakra can be seen on Fridays at 23:00. The other thriller titled Koie Jane Na will air on Sunday nights at 23:00.

STAR Network has also confirmed that it will be telecasting daily highlights of the much talked about India vs Pakistan cricket series, which begins on 21st February. The programme called Wah Cricket will air on STAR News daily. Sticking with the India vs Pakistan cricket series, the TV rights have not yet been sold to India and a court hearing on this is expected on Wednesday.
