Star India issues notice to pull out from Tata Sky
Star India has issued a disconnection notice to DTH platform, Tata Sky, in which its parent company 21st Century Fox has a 30% stake in it.
The termination notice comes into effect immediately with will transpire into disconnection 21 days from now. The notice issued read: “This is to inform the subscribers of Tata Sky that the signals of Star India channels are likely to be discontinued on account of non-signing of subscription agreement by the DTH operator.”
From previous experiences, broadcasters tend to issue notices to negotiate a better deal with the distribution platform. Whether it succeeds, remains to be seen.
