STAR & B4U ink new movie deals with UTV

STAR and B4U Network have signed separate deals with UTV, which will see both broadcasters show some big movie titles in the coming months.

The movies, which will be shown on the international beams of the channels will see B4U Movies broadcast a huge 54 films from the UTV library and STAR show 23 titles.

STAR will telecast films such as ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘Race’, ‘Kismat Konnection’, ‘Fashion’ and ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’, B4U Movies will show the same plus the latest lot – ‘Dev D’ and ‘Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye’.

UTV Motion Pictures VP international distribution and syndication Amrita Pandey said, “We are glad to announce this satellite syndication deal with both STAR TV and B4U Networks for a selection of films from the UTV library. UTV has had a dream run in 2008 with all our releases performing exceptionally well at the box office and with this and other syndication deals we hope to increase the audience for these movies across India and around the world.”

Recently, ZEE Network also confirmed 21 movie acquisitions from UTV. NDTV Imagine had acquired 3, with Colors buying 27 from the production/distribution giant.

B4U Network UK has revamped its programming line-up of late. Whilst new elements have been introduced on B4U Music, the flagship movies service has acquired a handful of exclusive titles from distributor Studio 18. Earlier this month, the channel unveiled its latest marketing strategy by promoting its new movie titles and free month campaign in a marketing blitz in London and Birmingham.
