SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ to release directly on digital?

Rumours are rife that SS Rajamouli’s mega production ‘RRR’ could skip a theatrical release and hit a digital streaming giant instead.

Producer Jayantilal Gada is said to be fed up with the constant delays and is keen to release the film on a digital platform. He own the North Indian rights of the film, as well as digital and satellite rights.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “See, the pandemic situation is not likely to ebb in the near future. Theatre attendance is now at its lowest ever. Even Akshay Kumar couldn’t pull the audience back out of their homes into movie theatres with Bell Bottom. Given the grim scenario, Rajamouli’s stubborn stance, that he will only release RRR in cinemas, has begun to sound unreasonable to Jayantilal Gada who has high stakes in the product.”
