SRK, Vikrant Massey, Rani Mukerji & ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ win 71st National Film Awards

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting unveiled the winners of the 71st National Film Awards. Bollywood productions dominated the major categories, underscoring the industry’s creative strength and popular appeal.

Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey shared the Best Actor honour, each praised for performances that resonated deeply with audiences and critics alike. Rani Mukerji received the Best Actress award for ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘12th Fail’ was declared Best Feature Film of 2023. Chopra not only directed but also produced the project, which stars Vikrant Massey alongside Megha Shankar in a compelling drama inspired by true events.

The award for Best Hindi Film went to ‘Kathal’, a Netflix release backed by producer Guneet Monga. Starring Sanya Malhotra, Rajpal Yadav and Vijay Raaz, the film blends dark humour with social commentary to powerful effect.

‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani’ was honoured as the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Produced by Karan Johar, the romantic comedy also secured the Best Choreographer award for Vaibhavi Merchant, whose work on ‘Dhindora Baje Re’ was widely celebrated.

Filmmaker Sudipto Sen earned the Best Director title for ‘The Kerala Story’, a provocative and hard-hitting drama that has sparked extensive discussion for its bold narrative.
