When Imtiaz Ali directed ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ failed earlier this year, the pressure was on Shah Rukh Khan to pay back the losses to the distributors which is what Salman Khan had done when ‘Tubelight’ suffered a dismal fate only a few weeks beforehand. According to Bollywood Hungama, Shah Rukh compensated NH Studios, who bagged the satellite rights, for 15% of the losses they incurred. Similarly, the team at Red Chillies Entertainment looked at each distributor separately and Shah Rukh re-paid some distributors upto 30%.
The film, which also starred Anushka Sharma, was one of the year’s most anticipated movies but didn’t do as well as was expected.
