Since the MNS ordered a ban on Pakistani actors in Bollywood, it seems filmmakers have been extra cautious to ensure their films don’t get caught up more than have to in any controversy. As a result, producer Ritesh Sidhwani and Shah Rukh Khan has met with Raj Thackeray to talk about ‘Raees’ which is due to see the debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.
Thackeray addressed the media after the meeting. He’s quoted by Spotboye as saying, “Mahira will be a part of Raees but Shah Rukh told me that she will not be coming to India to promote the film. We will make sure that until the Indo-Pak relations do not improve, no Pakistani actor will be cast in any of our films”.
This news comes after Khan categorically said that the actress will come to India if needed for promotions. He’d said, “If required, we will ask Mahira to come and promote the film. Government ne visa dene se manaa nahi kiya hai”.
‘Raees’ will release on 25th January 2017.
