During the promotions of ‘Raees’ (2017), an unfortunate incident happened at one of the locations where Shah Rukh Khan had momentarily stopped to greet fans.
Khan had decided he would travel from Mumbai to New Delhi by train, stopping at key locations, one of which was Vadodara in the state of Gujarat and here is where the fatality happened. With 15,000 people on the station platform, Farid Khan Pathan who was amongst the crowd had a heart attack, caused by suffocation.
It has now been reported by India TV that Khan may face charges for this after Deputy Superintendent of Police (Western Railway) Tarun Barot submitted a report saying the cause was due to Khan’s negligence, under the IPC section 304a2 (causing death due to negligence) and sections of the Railway Act for creating a stampede and chaos. This could land Khan in some serious trouble. The reasoning behind the DSP Barot’s decision was had the ‘Dear Zindagi’ (2016) star not over excited the fans by throwing his t-shirt into the crowd, this would not have happened.
The family of Pathan have already said that they don’t have anything against Khan and accept it was an accident, but DSP Barot thinks otherwise.
