Srinidhi Shetty who is making her debut as an actor in the forthcoming ‘KGF’ (Kolar Gold Fields), has opened up about her character in the film and what the future means for her now.
In an interview with Cinema Express, Shetty can’t wait for everyone to watch the Prashanth Neel directorial, where she plays the lead role opposite South actor Yash. The trailer released last Friday and has certainly created a buzz. “The trailer itself gives me goosebumps. I can’t wait to watch the film on December 21,” says the model.
Asked about her character Reena, the trailers shows her as someone who is very glamorous, Shetty explains there are many shades that are portrayed, not just one. “Director Prashanth Neel knows how to keep things under wraps so that people remain curious. So yeah, as of now, let us stick to the glam image from the trailer.”
‘KGF’ which will be releasing in five languages, and as mentioned the trailer has made a strong impression to many across the country, which Shetty feels is a stroke of luck for her. “A lot of actors wanted to be a part of this film, but it just fell into my lap. Now it has grown in magnitude. Big names are associating themselves with KGF and the country is talking about the film. I am overwhelmed. I want to thank director Prashanth Neel first for believing that I can pull off the role of Reena. Even though I had zero knowledge of acting, he took me in. I must also thank the producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale films and Yash for considering me part of the fraternity.”
So what’s next for Shetty? “I have to wait for the release to know more. I want to see how the audience will welcome me and what opportunities will come after this.” Who further adds she would like to do more films if the script is right. “If it was up to me, I want to start shooting the second part immediately. But the team requires rest before we start again. Meanwhile, I am looking for more work. KGF has set the benchmark for me, and whatever comes next, I will want to look into the story, the director, the team and production house before deciding.”
Shetty reveals since the trailer launch she has now been getting offers from Bollywood, but says she will always prioritise Kannada films. “After this trailer, my portfolio has reached Bollywood. Discussions are ongoing, but I haven’t finalised any film.”
Releasing on the 21st December, the film will be Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
