Sridevi’s loss of ‘Fitoor’ set to be Rekha’s gain?

Rekha in 'Fitoor'?

Sridevi was rumoured to have been favourite for the role of Miss Havisham in the Hindi adaptation of Charles Dickens’ ‘Great Expectations’. However, Rekha has since been approached for the project, titled ‘Fitoor’, after Sridevi turned the venture down.

‘Fitoor’ is hailed by Abhishek Kapoor and is set to star Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur. It is being reported that Sridevi decided against taking up the role because of the negative shades it would encompass. Sridevi made her comeback in the upbeat ‘English Vinglish’ (2012) and it seems she’s not ready to take up the antagonist roles as yet.

A source part-confirmed the development, according to Mumbai Mirror, “Rekha has consented in principle but has yet to sign on the dotted line”.

‘Fitoor’ was initially set to star Sushant Singh Rajput in the male lead role but was replaced by Roy Kapur. The project should go on the floors this year.
