Spotlight: Ramadhan shows in Asian media

Asian broadcasters have prepared themselves for the month of Ramadhan. Biz Asia brings you a guide as to what each channel will be covering and at what time…

?Ramadan-Mubarak’, the newly commissioned live show by Euro Asia Ltd, is to celebrate the holy month of Ramadhan. Presented by the talented Rahul, the one hour live show which will be telecast every Monday to Thursday at 22:00 throughout the month, and will consist of various segments, all dedicated to Ramadhan. Islamic scholars will be invited to into the studio to discuss the teachings of the Koran and the Islamic faith. Euro Asia?s Head of Programming says ?With so much negative press coverage about the Islamic religion recently, we are extremely proud to have commissioned a format which will not be informative, but will also give people an opportunity to ask experts questions about the religion and look at Islam in a positive light, and without any prejudice?.

Bangla TV
As well as Azan five times everyday, Bangla TV will also broadcast a special programme before and after Sehri (Fajr) and Ifter (Maghrib).

Every Friday: 15:00 to 17:00- Live Show “Masla Masayel”
Masla Masayel is a live phone in programme about Quran & Islam.

Everyday : From 17:30pm to 18:00- Special Programme ” Islam Ki Boley”
The programme is based on real explanation of Islam.

Everyday : From 18:00 to 19:00 – special programme ” Quran Telewat & Tarjoma”. The programme is based on Quran & Bangla translation.

Everyday : 20:00 to 22:00- recorded Tarabi (Isha) from Mecca.

Everyday : From 04:30 to 06:00- Islamic programme with Islamic music.

BBC Asian Network
The BBC Asian Network will once again be observing the fast of Ramadan which is expected to begin on Tuesday 4th October.

The Network will mark the beginning of the fast each morning with a commentary on the Quran by the Islamic scholar Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra. He will summarise verses read at special taraweeh prayers in all mosques at Ramadan and reflect on how these texts address British Muslims.

The end of the days fast will be signalled by the evening Azaan in Nikki Bedi?s Drive program, 16:00 ? 19:30.

In the Asian Networks language programs throughout the month of Ramadan there will be a special focus on aspects of Islam in the modern world.

Club Asia
Throughout the month of Ramadhan Club Asia will be broadcasting a special Ramadan Show every morning from 4-6am presented by Schehzad. The show will include Islamic stories for kids, Sehri recipes, interviews with Muslims around the world, and even ways to convince your boss for Aftari time off. Club Asia will also be the first broadcaster to provide a text alert service during the month of Ramadan where people can receive timings for the start and end of their fast whilst on the move. In addition to the text alerts, listeners will also be able to hear daily timings for their fast throughout the day on Club Asia 963+972AM straight after the news. The news team will also keep people informed of the sighting of the moon and when Eid day is.

PTV Prime
As well as Sehar transmission at 04:30 each morning and Iftar at 17:30 every night, PTV Prime will also be showing Travih Prayers from Mecca at 19:30 every weeknight. At 05:30 in the morning the channel will also be broadcasting a show called Dars ul Quran, which will telecast teaching and recitation of the Holy Quran with translation.

ZEE TV
A programme called Ramadhan Reflections will air from Tuesday 4th October daily at 06:00, with repeats on weekday afternoons at 16:00.
