Spectrum Radio goes into liquidation

Spectrum Radio, the multicultural radio station, which has been the home of many Asian broadcasters including ARY Radio, ZEE Radio, Sabras Radio (London) amongst many others, has fallen into liquidation.

RadioToday reports that the station, which has been broadcasting ON 558AM since 1989 has been issued with a Winding Up Order by the High Court of Justice.

Companies House has confirmed that a liquidator was appointed this week. Ofcom, which regulates UK broadcasters, confirmed the developments and told RadioToday, “We will be getting in touch with the liquidators of Spectrum Radio to discuss the future of the licence.”

Ofcom rules state that a company which has been wound-up cannot own a licence.
