Sooraj Barjatya

Sooraj Barjatya’s latest directorial venture ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has been declared a Diwali blockbuster worldwide. Much love and adulation is pouring in for the familyfilm andBarjatya. He directed ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ after nine years, and he admits that they genres other than family drama seems to never work with Rajshri.

Barjatya spoke to the Hindustan Times about his dream like journey through Bollywood. He said, “I just had one dream, to assist Raj Kapoor (late actor-director) but that couldn’t, since he passed away. Initially, I just wanted to make one film, so I made Main Pyar Kiya. followed. But then the rest followed. It is like a dream, I can’t believe I have come this far. But, I am really fortunate that people appreciate me, and I am able to contribute to society in whatever way I can.”

Barjatya does admit thatRajshriis struggling withmakingfilms other than family dramas, under their banner. He said, “I like to do my best at what I’m doing. We are trying to make more films. Our TV wing is doing very well, and we are going to launch some more shows. As for film-making, we tried several other genres, but somehow, in our banner, anything other than a family drama just never works. So, that’s something we are still struggling with. To keep making movies in the genre that I specialize in is a bit challenging because I have to have people who believe in it as much as I do. What I really want is that whatever I am doing should be of high quality.”

‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’starred Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor, and released on 12th November.
