SonyLIV announces launch of five original shows over next two months
After its soft re-launch earlier this month, SonyLIV has announced the launch of five original shows, which will be rolled out over the next two months.
As well as ‘Your Honor’ launching this month, SonyLIV has released details about its latest offering, ‘Kadakh’ – a dark comedy, starring Ranvir Shorey. It also released Manoj Bajpayee’s critically acclaimed film ‘Bhonsle’.
Speaking at launch of its first Original, Ashish Golwalkar – Head-Content SET, Digital Business, Sony Pictures Networks India, shared, “This is our show which will go live in a couple of days. SonyLIV is coming in the original series space for the first time. We plan to launch some English shows and movies which will be released exclusively on SonyLiv. Initially, in the first two months, you will see the launch of five shows. Four of these shows are produced by Applause Entertainment. We have some interesting offerings in Hindi, English and Marathi in the beginning, and will move to other languages later.”
He added, “SonyLIV Originals are Indian stories created for a global market. The storytelling therefore will have a signature Indian ethos and authenticity. Your Honor is the first such show and will be followed by an interesting line-up of Indian stories coming soon.”
Saugata Mukherjee, Head – Original Content, Digital Business SonyLIV, spoke about their collaboration with Applause Entertainment, saying, “We have shows like Andekhi and Scam 1992 soon coming up on the platform. Going forward, we are looking at dark comedy and sitcom too. The slate is very powerful for the next 12 months. Unfortunately, some of the shoots got on hold but we will be back on track hopefully early next year. Apart from that we have a great line for international shows. We have got some shows from Sony’s international studios, some from Lionsgate, NBC Universals studios. We are also getting some old classic shows and we are getting Agatha Christie shows.”
