Sony UK ties up with TalkSport radio for India V Sri Lanka cricket

Sony Pictures Networks has inked a deal with digital radio station, TalkSport 2 to carry exclusive commentary of the ongoing cricket series between India and Sri Lanka.

The broadcaster holds the exclusive UK/Europe television rights and thus in a first for any UK Asian broadcaster, has agreed to give access to the tournament to TalkSport 2. As well as live commentary by TalkSport presenters, the station is also carrying “live reads” and sponsor tags during the matches, directing listeners to Sony MAX for exclusive television coverage of the series. The station is reinforcing the message of the recent change to Sky subscribers, which allows viewers to watch the channel without any extra subscription fee.

The cricket coverage seems to have worked wonders for Sony MAX UK at the time it most needed it. The channel has attracted oodles of eyeballs at the time viewers are sampling the new services that are being offered to them during the recent Sky changes. Sony MAX UK currently sits with a weekly reach of over 361,000, just behind leader Star Gold, which scored 392,000 viewers in the last round of BARB data.
