Sony UK obtain licences for three new channels

Sony Pictures Networks Asia is expected to launch three new channels in the UK after it was confirmed that it had obtained new licences.

According to Ofcom’s list of licences, Sony Pictures Networks India channels Sony Pal, Sony Mix and Sony MAX 2 could set to launch in the UK. The three varied channels will see Sony Pal focusing on re-run shows from flagship channel Sony Entertainment Television, while Sony Mix will see the channel foray into music with an all-Bollywood music channel and Sony MAX 2 will be the second film channel to complement its Sony MAX channel.

Sony Pictures Networks currently only operates Sony Entertainment Television, Sony MAX and Sony SAB TV in the UK. If all three new channels launch as per planned, it will no doubt intensify the war amongst the bigger networks after all the Asian TV channels from the Sky Asia Pack go into the basic pack by the provider.
