Sony TV UK: What changes to expect when fresh episodes return

Fans of Sony TV shows can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Monday 20th July marks the return of fresh episodes of its original shows.

It is worth recalling that Sony TV axed three big shows during the lockdown namely ‘Beyhadh 2’, ‘Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein’ and ‘Patiala Babes’. As a result of this, the channel will have a 90 minute slot vacant, so what is the broadcaster planning?

Sony TV has had much success during the lockdown with its re-run shows. While other broadcasters resorted to mythologicals and films to fill their schedules, Sony TV successfully fought off competition in the UK with the re-run of ‘Indian Idol 10’, ‘Crime Patrol’ and a spate of other reality shows.

Now, the channel is gearing up to bring back original shows with 45 minutes each of ‘Vighnaharta Ganesh’ and ‘Meri Sai’. Interestingly, the two shows will sit on either side of ‘Indian Idol 11’ at 18:15. The former will take the 17:30 slot and the latter will air at 19:45.

The channel will also shifting its recently launched series ‘Ek Duje Ke Vaaste’ in the 20:30 slot, which will be followed by fresh episodes of ‘Mere Dad Ki Dulhan’ in a new slot of 21:00. The channel has decided to retain old episode of ‘Patiala Babes’, which will air at 21:30.

‘Crime Patrol’ will continue to broadcast at 22:00, which has performed exceptionally well for the broadcaster.

Fresh episodes of ‘India’s Beat Dancer’ made a return over the weekend and this will he joined by new episodes of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.

All-in-all, Sony TV is back in the reckoning with its ratings grabbing programming.
