Sony TV to launch two new fictions to spruce up 21:00 slot

The Indian society warmly embraces various interpersonal and familial relationships that are strengthened over a period of time. While these relationships come with their own form of urgency and priority, they also have their share of ups and downs. The phrases ‘sacrifice for your loved ones’, ‘adjustments save relationships’, and ‘distance owing to generation gap’ are heard a little too often in the course of these relationships. Women chasing their dreams as freely as men and bonds formed between two individuals from different generations, are conversational topics… but how long would it take for us to unflinchingly accept the concept of self-love and unconventional friendships? With this core thought, Sony Entertainment Television gears up to launch two new shows – ‘Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye’ and ‘Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi’ starting Monday 7th February, every Monday to Friday at 21:00 and 21:30 respectively. Both the shows will trace the journeys of everyday individuals, as they forge relationships, and go through the twists and turns of human emotions.

Set against the backdrop of Mumbai, ‘Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye’ produced by Shashi Mittal & Sumeet Mittal, will chart the journey of a couple – Soumya Verma portrayed by Vidhi Pandya and her husband Armaan Oberoi portrayed by Vijayendra Kumeria. Soumya is an ambitious & struggling TV writer and Armaan Oberoi, a charming and successful TV producer. On the surface, their relationship seems perfect. For Soumya, her marriage with Armaan feels that of equals, with her husband supporting her ambitions but he has a deceitful side to him that no one knows of. Will Soumya realise she’s being manipulated by Armaan?

‘Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi’ produced by Katha Kottage, on the other hand, portrays unique and innocent friendship cemented between two individuals – a millennial and an elderly gentleman. As they juggle through different worldviews and experiences to forge a sweet and iron-clad camaraderie, the show traces the nuanced facades of human experience. One through the vivacious, impulsive, and carefree Purvi essayed by debutante Ismeet Kohli – a millennial adamant on living on her terms; and the elderly, experienced Jaganath Mishra played by veteran actor Rajendra Gupta, who has seen the umpteen rolls of dice played out by life. The show will also see talented actor Sushmita Mukherjee essay the character of Kusum, Jaganath’s wife. Set against the backdrop of the charming ghats of Banaras, the show takes the viewers on a beautiful yet endearing journey of Jaganath Mishra finding his lost sense of life’s purpose through a young stranger-turned-friend Purvi.

‘Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye’ and ‘Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi’ will take the audience through bitter-sweet journeys of individual emotions that come with different dynamics of relationships. Will Soumya remain true to herself, or will marriage and Armaan’s manipulations force her to compromise her aspirations? Will Jagannath Mishra look at life with a newer perspective after meeting the young and vivacious Purvi?

Ashish Golwalkar, Head – Content, Sony Entertainment Television & Digital Business said, “Sony Entertainment Television has been a trendsetter when it comes to defining television content. We have been consistent in introducing relatable characters and have touched upon a range of narratives that have found a place in the hearts of the audience. Both Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye and Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi are unique concepts in their own way that bring out a progressive perspective through the characters. With Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye, we have tried to show a narcissistic and manipulative side of an individual that drives his behavior and how his wife, an aspiring writer stands up for herself & her individuality. Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi, on the other hand, is a refreshing story of an unusual yet beautiful bond of friendship between two individuals from different generations that you don’t see often. We hope viewers resonate with both the shows and find them relatable.”

Shashi & Sumeet Mittal, Producers, Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye said, “We are very excited to present a show like Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye. However unfortunate, the turmoil of marital relationships is a reality. While Soumya aspires to pursue her ambition of becoming a successful TV writer and with the support of her husband Armaan Oberoi further wishes to fulfill her dream, it will be interesting to see how the dynamics change for her completely post marriage with Armaan. There is a deceitful side to him that no one knows of. It will be a revelation for the viewers to witness how Armaan manipulates his relationships as the show progresses. We are delighted to have on board actors Vidhi Pandya and Vijayendra Kumeria and hope the show strikes a chord with the viewers.”

Rajita Sharma and Vivek Budakoti, Katha Kottage Production LLP, Producers, Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi said, “In a world that is constantly fighting pain and sadness, stories like Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi will bring about a smile on the face of our viewers. We talk about different kinds of friendships, but they mostly center around people in the same age group. How often do we come across such an endearing bond between a young girl and an elderly man? Well, Jagannath aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi brings to light a unique friendship between an old couple and a young girl Purvi; and how they learn different things about life from each other. The story is vivacious, unique, and leaves us relishing the sweet and tangy flavours of relationships. And there was no better platform than Sony Entertainment Television, that has always supported us in bringing alive impactful human centric stories. Rajendra ji and Sushmita ji are evergreen actors who reinvent themselves with their roles; it’s just amazing to see them on-screen. Ismeet on the other hand shines through her debut with a maturity not seen often. It has been an absolute pleasure bringing these characters alive.”

Vijayendra Kumeria, who plays Armaan Oberoi in Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye said, “I consider myself fortunate to have been chosen for this role that has such a nuanced approach. Initially I was confused about taking it up but a long brief about the story and the character growth helped me take the decision. I was hooked to the story once I heard the narration. There is a complicated tonality in Armaan’s character – a dual-faced manipulator who stands strong and powerful in his field of work and is admired by many. While the character is unlike me as an individual, I am glad that I am getting an opportunity to bring this character alive on television. I am looking forward to a positive response from the audience.”

Vidhi Pandya, who plays Soumya Verma in Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye said, “I was very excited when I was approached to play the role of Soumya, who is an aspiring TV writer. The show offers a gamut of emotions and as an actor I felt it has a great scope for me to grow as an individual. As we shoot the episodes, I feel myself understanding the character better and I am personally looking forward to Soumya’s journey in the show. The narrative is new, and I am certain it will keep the viewers engaged.”

Rajendra Gupta, who plays Jaganath Mishra in Jagannath aur Purvi ki Dosti Anokhi said, “Jagannath aur Purvi ki Dosti Anokhi brings to life a beautiful yet adorable friendship between two people from two different generations, who with time try to bridge the gap between their worldviews. With its endearing narrative, the show gives a fresh perspective towards the precious bonds in our lives, like its rightly said some relationships don’t happen but are made, like Jagannath aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi. My character Jaganath is a conservative, family man who has always been rigid and socially inept in life. His life goes topsy turvy when this young millennial Purvi makes a dramatic entry! This is also a story of an elderly man who emerges from an isolated and un-adaptive mindset to becoming an inclusive person and finding a purpose at the autumn of his life. I hope the show melts the hearts of viewers as it did for me when I heard the story.”

Ismeet Kohli, who plays Purvi in Jagannath aur Purvi ki Dosti Anokhi said, “I just feel this was a great opportunity for me to mark my presence in the television industry. Jagannath aur Purvi ki Dosti Anokhi is such a special story that talks about unusual friendships that are unflinchingly honest. I learnt a lot from Rajendra Gupta and Sushmita ji, who are such great actors and can portray any character effortlessly. It is truly a privilege to be working alongside such talented actors. My character Purvi is free spirited, wears her heart on her sleeve, and doesn’t believe in conforming to the norms of the society. She is just like every other millennial out there. This is her journey as she learns to own the consequences of her actions along with Jagannath. I am honored and grateful that Rajita ma’am and Vivek sir believed in me to portray this character.”
